Check out our current #5 rated web hosting provider, GoDaddy. You may also know them for domain registration, of which they're easily the largest in the world, hosting over 84 million domains across the world. They were one of the first in the domain and web hosting industry and continue to be a value and service leader to date.

Support:
The North American-based phone agents at GoDaddy actually listen to customers and understanding what they need. They're also pretty good at resolving issues and communicating with customers. Wait times were short, usually 2 minutes or less. We had great experiences with chat agents as well. GoDaddy offers 24/7 phone, chat and online/email support. The online interface is a little awkward, but certainly usable once you get used to it.
Overall, we found GoDaddy suppor to be quick and friendly, easily able to answer common questions.

Control Panel:
The tools that GoDaddy offers are easy-to-use and consistently improving. In the last year, they've launched a fantastic file manager and have been incorporating more user interface standards into each of their tools. It's clear they test their interfaces for usability and they actively solicit customer feedback. Their main control panel is an in-house modified version of cPanel, which is the most popular web hosting control panel in the industry. Their version of cPanel makes modifying any aspect of your website account quick and easy. From adding domains, e-mails, databases, 1-click WordPress installation, or over 150+ website apps, no other control panel platform is easier to use, to date.
Given the robust offering of the GoDaddy suite of services, the homepage of the control panel can be a little overwhelming, but stick to your nav bar and you'll be fine. The control panel can also be a little slow around mid-day, but not so slow that it became unusable, during our tests.
What sets them apart?
"Faster, Safer, Greener Hosting" - iPage |
Incorporates the SiteLock Security Suite and Seal at no extra cost. |
You'll talk to agents located in North America, and get them on the phone in less than 2 minutes. |
Your website will be eco-friendly, and hosting is powered by 100% wind energy! |
Summary:
If you put a high value on security and want to create an effective website quickly, you're going to want to give GoDaddy a closer look. Not only is their web host offering robust and affordable, it's clear they've taken the time to understand their customers needs and they're constantly working to address those needs.
While they may be a little aggressive in marketing their extras, they really do offer an incredibly diverse and valuable suite of services. They also over many pricing specials, which make their extras seem well worth the added expense. That said, check out GoDaddy today, to see their outstanding web hosting plans.

Pretty good

A bit more pricey than the others but you have the convenience of having the largest web host in the world and all the services and features, addons they provide. Lower the price and I'd recommend more!

Could use more features
Review by: Russell from Baltimore, on March 14th
For bottom dollar hosting they are ok and most small sites will do great with them. However if you have a more resourceful site I think you might be happier with someone else and pay a little more, for the added features and extra bandwidth, etc etc. AKA, you get what you pay for. Same goes for hosting usually.

Can't beat that price...
Review by: Cody from Virginia, on February 19th
For any in house managed web hosting company (not big box) to offer a price that low, you would assume something is "up". I can attest that the service, albeit sometimes a little slow, gets the job done with ample add ons and support isn't half bad either. Recommended.

Ipage gets the job done for fairly cheap. They offer a few extra features for added $$ but for the standard plan it should work for most customers. Not sure if I would rate them at the top, but they are good IMHO.

Customer support for IPage is abysmal I dealt with about five different advisors all telling me different things. The upshot is they took money from me and did not come up with goods. Not very good at all.

Friendly techs get issues fixed. Gobs of features, but beware of the "unlimited" everything. They can throttle down your account if you go over a certain usage limit, as with any web host offering this. It all comes down to how much they consider "over usage"?

While they aren't the best...
Review by: Frank from Chevy Chase, MD., on May 1st
They offer up good hosting for the $$$. If you want enterprise type web hosting for $3.50 a month, you need to come back down to reality. For most sites they are fine though, at least for us.

They're Great! ... Until the lie kicks in.
Review by: JayVay from Hawaii, on April 26th
NOT unlimited bandwidth. Know when you find that out? When they suspend your website for exceeding bandwidth without warning. I co-host a podcast. Here is what they told us: We were exceeding bandwidth & disrupting thousands of other websites. They referred us to their sister site for an upgrade to our own server for hundreds of dollars per month. We have a friend, another podcaster, who had the EXACT same thing happen to him at dotEASY - You are disrupting thousands of other websites. Would you consider switching to our outrageously expensive sister company for your own server? - SCAM.
